Goldie Ruby (Carper) Scudder

Goldie Ruby Scudder, 86, of Rantoul, IL passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Friday, June 7, 2024 at Carle Hospital, Urbana,IL.

She was born August 31, 1937 on the family farm in Edom, VA, a daughter of Garnett and Mary (Clam) Carper.  She married William R. Scudder on December 31, 1955 in Faulks Run, VA.  He preceded her in death on May 14, 2017.

She is survived by 6 sons, Randy (Kathy) Scudder of Rantoul; Ronald (Lisa) Scudder of Rantoul; Dale (Ellen) Scudder of Rantoul; Steve (Mica) Scudder of Hopkinsville, KY; Kevin (Cathy) Scudder of Gifford; Larry (Teresa) Scudder of Rantoul, 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son David.

Goldie graduated from Broadway high School, VA.  She was a member of the First Methodist of Rantoul.  She was an extraordinary mother, filling that role for anyone in the neighborhood.  She loved painting, gardening, camping and fishing.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Thursday morning at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.  Rev. Kevin Little will officiate.  She will be buried beside her husband in Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Lux Memorial Chapel.
