Goldie I. Strange

Goldie I. Strange, 97, of Danville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Gardenview Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 9, 1917 to Roy and Idelle (Miller) Moulton. She married Kenneth L. Strange on September 20, 1936. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1988, after more than fifty years of marriage. Goldie was a long-time housewife and mother who loved to cook, sew, and care for her family and friends. She was a faithful servant of the Lord who assisted her church family at the Lone Oak Church of Christ for many years with Vacation Bible School and with her card ministry celebrating members birthdays and anniversaries. Survivors include a son, Charles (Georgia) Strange of Danville; two daughters, Carolyn Arnold of Catlin and Becky (Greg) Osborne of Oakwood; six grandchildren, Chuck (Jill Smith) Strange of Danville, Randy Strange of Danville, Larry (Jeanette) Arnold of Oakwood, Charlotte Christin of Rockville, MD, Amanda (Thomas) Bjorklund of Richmond, TX, and Chad (Adrian) Cox of Georgetown; three step-grandchildren, Greg (Tracy) Osborne, Jr. of Danville, Hallie (Gilbert) Mockbee of Alvin, and Eunice Osborne of Lafayette, IN; fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora (Ed) Jameson of Oakwood, and Mary Jane Crider of Imperial, MO; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, a son-in-law, Lyndal Arnold, a great-granddaughter, Modesty Kay Arnold, and two great-grandsons, Rhyder and Rhyland Strange, one brother, Bill Moulton, and four sisters, Louise Alpers, Charity Byerly, Jessie Lee, and Anna Mae Shoemaker. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, September 22, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. James McMillen of Lone Oak Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials should be made to the Lone Oak Church of Christ.
