Gloria A. Williams

Gloria Ann Williams of Danville passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Gloria was born on February 23, 1942 at Lakeview Hospital in Danville, IL to Bernice and George Stuebe. She is survived by her two daughters Jennifer Williams and Stephanie (David) Reed, her five grandchildren Amanda and Nicholas Williams and Jack, Samantha and Ila Reed as well as her two sisters-in-law Diana (William) Downing and Deborah (Kent) Olson.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband of 53 years David L Williams.

After graduating in 1959 from Danville High School, Gloria started at the University of Illinois at the age of 17. She graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She went on to teach 5th and 6th grade at Northeast School for 6 years and then later she taught 4th and 5th grade at Meade Park Elementary school for 31 years. While teaching at Meade Park, Gloria made lifelong friends with her fellow teachers Jim, Fran, Sally, Lucy and Lyle.

Gloria married her high school sweetheart at St. James Church on March 27, 1963. They remained happily married until his death in 2016. Gloria was active up until her death playing bridge and eating lunch with her close friend Fran. She was well taken care of by family friend Kenny Rice and her neighbor Tim Starr. Gloria loved her girls and her grandkids and spent time in both Louisville and Houston for holidays and celebrations. She was an avid animal lover and she loved her house in the country. Gloria often spent her weekends watching the Bears play and going to movies. She will be missed by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Visitation will be from 2-4:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the funeral home in Danville, IL.
