Danville- Glenn W. Wright, 103, of Danville, passed away on May 7, 2014 at Heritage Health Care Center in Hoopeston, IL. He was born on August 21, 1910 in Danville, the son of Walter and Lillian (Gannon) Wright. He married Rosemary Harkness on December 6, 1932 in Danville and she preceded him in death. He will be deeply missed by three sons, David (Elaine) Wright of Colorado Springs, CO, Bill Wright of Danville, Stephen (Brenda) Wright of Greentown, IN, one daughter, Kathleen (Sam) Weston of Rossville, grandchildren; John (Angie) Wright, Tom Wright, Susie Williams, Vicki (Roy) Peppers, Tammy (Dan) Bolser, Toni (Mark) Shepherd, Dan (Lynne) Wright, Mark (Sarah) Wright, Jim (Brenda) Weston, Jane (Tim) Parker, Brian Wright and Becky (Paul) Rumbuc, twenty three great grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren and one great-great great grandchild. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donald Wright, one brother, Paul Wright, three sisters, Virginia Wright, Waneta Reynolds, Louise Wright and one grandchild, Josh Shepherd. He was a life-long member of the Second Church of Christ where he held many positions over the years. Glenn was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and the Shriners, where he traveled many times to the children s hospital. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy serving in the sonar and radar division on the destroyer U.S.S. Whipple. As a younger man Glenn held jobs as a clerk and eventually became manager of A&P Grocery Store before joining Prudential Insurance Company where he worked for 36 years before retiring. He was an avid Cubs fan, loved hunting, golfing, bowling, traveling, family gatherings and growing tomatoes. Everyone called him the “Tomato Man”. A celebration of Glenns life will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Drew Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials can be made in his name to Second Church of Christ building fund.
