Kingman, Ind. --- Glenn Malcolm Ray, Sr. went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Glenn was born on July 31, 1925 on the family farm in Kingman, Indiana. He graduated from Tangier High School in 1943 and left to serve in Patton's 3rd Army during World War II. After returning from Europe, Glenn studied Bible at Bob Jones University and went into the ministry. He received an honorary doctorate degree from BJU in 1971. Glenn pastored churches in Covington, Indiana; Duarte, California; South St. Paul, Minnesota and in October, 2006 retired from Kingman Community Church in Kingman, Indiana after 29 years of ministry. He led numerous youth camps, missions' conferences and revivals. The lives of many people, young and old, were changed forever at "Happy House" (a house purchased by First Baptist Church of Covington, IN for youth camps in Winona Lake, Indiana); at "Rainbow Ranch" (a youth camp started by Calvary Baptist Church in So. St. Paul, MN); as well as the "Kingman Community Church Center" (a renovated school building used for camps and retreats). Glenn had a passion for the gospel and the way its message changes lives. Proverbs 11:30 says, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise." The legacy he leaves is a legacy of forgiveness and hope because of the forgiveness and hope that was given to him. Glenn is survived by his wife, Marge Ray; his children ~ Glenn Ray, Jr., Connie Coughlin, Carolyn Roman, Gwen Spiegel, Dave Ray, Terri Ray, Craig Ray, Tim Murray and Trudee Betsill; as well as 28 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and extended family, Dianna Mikalik. His siblings, Paul Ray of Kingman, IN and Gwen Greene of Danville, IN, also survive him. Visitation will be held at Kingman Community Church, Friday, November 24, 2006 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. EST. The funeral service will be held at Kingman Community Church, Saturday (November 25) at 2 p.m. EST. Burial will follow at the Miller Cemetery, Lodi, Indiana. Military Rites conducted by Kingman American Legion Post #384. Glenn's legacy can continue through memorials given in his memory to Kingman Community Church Malawi Missions. The gifts will be donated to David and Shannon Lewis who are the first missionaries out of Kingman Community Church during Glenn's ministry. They are serving in Malawi, South Africa.
