St. Joseph Glenn Lee Cook, 86, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at his home in St. Joseph, IL. He was born on September 15, 1935 in Danville, IL to Forrest V. and Ida E. (Hayworth) Cook. Glenn married Sherrill K. Williams January 30, 1958 in Danville, IL. Both had fond memories of raising their three children in Danville, Fithian, and Hoopeston.
Glenn grew up in Danville and graduated from Oaklawn Grade School, Danville High School, and later the University of Illinois. He served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.
After Glenns military service he worked for the New York Central Railroad (Peoria and Eastern) in depots from Indianapolis, IN to Peoria, IL. He later was an engineer for Magnavox in Urbana, IL, Hoffman Industries in Orleans, IN, Vesuvius in Fisher, IL and an engineering manager at CBS Musical Instruments in Hoopeston, IL.
Glenn is survived by his children David (Julie) Cook, Mark (Dawn) Cook, and Connie (Reggie) Thompson; grandchildren Sherrill Thompson, Casey (Caden) Engel, Matthew Cook, and Samuel Cook; and special friend Jan Farkas. He was preceded in death by his cherished grandmother, Emma Murphy, parents, former wife, brother Vern and sister-in-law Artina Cook.
Glenn was hardworking, loyal, and a committed husband, father and Christian. He enjoyed sports, playing slow pitch softball, running, biking, woodworking, history and reading.
Graveside committal with military honors will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 3901 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834.
