Glenn A. Burress, 69, of Danville, passed away at 8:27 p.m. Sunday, August 15th, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Glenn was born on August 4, 1941 in Robinson, Illinois, the son of Glenn S. and Mary Treiva (Lawrence) Burress. He married Ruth Myers on September 16, 1962 at the 1st Christian Church in Hoopeston. She survives. He is also survived by a son- Jeff (Jenny) Burress of Danville; daughter- Donna (Brad) Walters of Danville; four grandchildren- Joe (Bethany) Burress of Memphis, Tennessee, Jessica (Paul Mayhugh) Burress of Danville, Sarah Walters of Danville and Tiffany Walters of Danville; two brothers- Robert (Bonnie) Burress of Fenton, Missouri and Gary Burress of Tilton; one sister- Mary Jane Jenkins of Minonk, Illinois; one brother-in-law- Tom Myers of Danville; one sister-in-law- Ellen (Vic) Vanesse of Danville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers- Lynn Burress, John Burress and Butch Burress, brother-in-law- Gary Jenkins and his loving dog- Sophie Mae. Glenn graduated from Robinson High School in 1959. He worked for 20 years as a foreman at Hyster and later worked at Heatcraft as a brazier for 20 years, until he retired in 2007. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as a former Elder and usher. Glenn enjoyed his dogs, reading, camping, fishing, golfing and just being outdoors. He was an avid Cardinals, Packers and Illini fan. Glenn was a true family man and was dad and grandpa to a lot of people. He was the patriarch of the Burress family and was always willing to help anybody do odd jobs. Glenn was a very meticulous and proud man. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. A Celebration of the life of Glenn A. Burress will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Daniel Fienen officiating. Burial will follow the service in Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
