Glen Peak

Glen Peak, 84, of Oakwood passed away on September 16, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on November 14, 1941 the youngest of 7 children to the late Harry and Hazel {Ferris} Peak. Though he was born in Bismarck, he grew up in Bronson with a passion for fast cars. Glen married the love of his life, Jerilyn Miles, on April 15, 1962. The two would spend the next 64 years together raising their family and making wonderful memories.

Glen began his career at Bohn Aluminum in 1968 and retired after 35 years as a forklift driver from its successor Heatcraft. His love for his community was shown through countless acts of service, from driving tractors to help local farmers seed their fields to mowing neighbors’ lawns, always ready to lend his time, strength, and helping hand. Being an avid outdoorsman, he was also a member of the Fairmount Conservation Club for over 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He picked mushrooms well into his 80’s, never divulging his secret spots. The neighborhood squirrels and rabbits looked forward to seeing him as he always made sure to have food handy for them.

Glen is survived by his wife, Jerilyn Peak; his children Sheila (Stephen) Peak Dittberner, Glen (Beth) Peak, and Jeffrey Peak; grandchildren Taylor (Ryan) Guillette, Hunter Dittberner, and Travis Peak; and his great-grandchildren Blaire Hughes, Harper Hughes, and Rowan Hughes. He is also survived by his siblings, one brother Clifford (Carol) Peak of Oakwood, Ill. and one sister Reva Lund of Prescott Valley, Ariz. as well.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his siblings Robert Peak, Edward Peak, Edna Hughes, Dorothy Chilton; and his nephews Mike Peak, David Peak, Ernie Chilton, Eddie Peak, and Chris Peak.

A visitation will be held from 12 – 2 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home’s Oakwood Chapel, located at 105 E. South Main Street, in Oakwood. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home beginning at 2 pm. Officiating will be Pastor Patti Wise. He will be placed to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery following services that afternoon. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
