Glen D. Scott

Danville- Glen D. Scott, 84, of Danville passed away on September 18, 2017 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Glen was born on December 16, 1932 the son of Clarence and Hildreth (Clingan) Scott in Fithian, IL. He married Jeanne Stull on June 14, 1952 in Danville, IL and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together. Glen is survived by his wife, Jeanne Scott of Danville, IL one daughter, Laurie Scott of Danville, IL, three brothers, James E. Scott of Danville, IL, Wayne R. Scott of Oakwood, IL and C. J. Scott of Nashville, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews. Glen is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Nancy "Jan" Scott on April 17, 2017, as well as two sisters, Garnet Reynolds and Thelma Bradley. Glen worked in sales for the Harry F. Beach Company for 10 years. In 1973 Glen bought the company and renamed it Great Scott! Paper & Janitorial. Great Scott! Was chosen because many people who called to speak to Glen would ask for "Great Scott". Health issued led to the sale of Great Scott! As we retired in 2010. Glen was appreciative of keeping "his" business local when Jim Christison bought the business and included it in Danville Paper Co. Glen was the Class President of Oakwood Township High School Class of 1951 and organized many gatherings for he and his classmates over the years. He also played basketball in the Independent Basketball League in the Danville area for over 13 years. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday September 22, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. James Gerald Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. at the funeral home.
