Glen D. Myers

CHAMPAIGN - Glen Dale Myers, 62, of Champaign passed away Monday morning, September 7, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital. Born May 1, 1953 in Danville, he was the son of Dale and Vernell (Fourez) Myers. Glen was a graduate of Champaign Centennial High School, and ITT Tech in Indianapolis. He later received a degree in Accounting from Parkland College. He married Cathie Marie Schwanke. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2001. In his younger years, Glen was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed camping, and was a huge fan of the Fighting Illini. Glen also had a passion for woodworking, wood burning, and painting. Glen is survived by his parents, Dale and Vernell Myers; two sons, Mark John (Harmony) Turkiewicz, and Robert John (Tonya) Turkiewicz, both of Virginia; a brother, Robert (Lynn) Myers of Thomasboro; a sister, Karen (Joey) Hager of Round Lake Beach, IL; several grandkids, nieces and nephews; and his dog, and special companion, Shadow. A memorial service to celebrate Glen's life will be held at 2 pm Friday, September 11, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 210 W. Church Street in Champaign. A time of visitation will be two hours prior to the time of service. Memorials may be made in Glen's name to either the Development Service Center, or First United Methodist Church in Champaign. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil Street in Champaign.
