Gladys M. Leverich-Steimel, 91, of Danville, passed this Life on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville. She was born on September 2, 1918, in Montgomery County, IN, the daughter of Millard and Miranda (Selmer) Davis. On March 1, 1939, Gladys married Mr. Lowell R. Leverich in Danville. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1996. On October 2, 1982, Gladys married Mr. Vincent Steimel until his passing on June 13, 2004. Surviving family includes her four daughters, Glee Cumbow of Danville, Glenda DeFrain of Houston, TX, Jean Davidson of Houston, TX, and Carol (Tom) Smock of Danville. Her eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and her brother, Edwin (Grace) Davis survives Gladys. Her parents, her daughter, Julia Minton, three sisters, Dorothy Nichols, Marjorie Campbell, Freda Davis, her granddaughter, Amy Davidson, and her two sons-in-laws, Jim Cumbow, and Charles DeFrain, preceded Gladys in death. She was a devoted homemaker, and later worked as a clerk in the Probate Division for the Vermilion County Court system. She enjoyed flowers and crafts. A Celebration of Life service for Gladys Leverich-Steimel will began at 3:00pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with Dr. Rev. Jimmy and Katie Hopper officiating. Burial will take place at Dexter Cemetery in Dexter Missouri at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 4, 2010. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Catlin United Methodist Church at PO Box 101, Catlin, IL. 61817.
