Gladys L. Dyar, 86, of Danville, passed away at 4:15pm December 19, 2005 at Provena United Samaritan Hospital. She was born September 13, 1919 in Allerton, Illinois, to the late Edgar and Mary Alice (Reed) Turner. Gladys married John Hershel Dyar, February 19, 1940 in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She is survived by one son; Gary D. (Debora) Dyar of Danville, two daughters; Linda (Richard) Stanton of Danville, and Sharon Willfong of Kissimmee, Florida, 12 grandchildren; Debbie (Duane) Eckerty, Brenda (Pat) Charters, Randy (Ginny) Whitlock, Scott (Stacy) Whitlock, Jerry (Agatha) Barnes, Jeff Dyar, Michael (Misty) Barnes, Jodi (Rob) Gentry, Rob (Melissa) Willfong, Melissa Willfong, Kimberly Dyar, and Ryan Dyar. She was blessed and will be missed by 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother; Walter Turner of Danville, and one sister Mable Magers of Danville, with whom she shared a home with. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son John A. Dyar. Gladys retired with 23 years of service from the dietary department at the Veterans Administration Illiana Health Care System. She was awarded in 1995, FWP Wage Grade Woman of the Year from her employer. Gladys was a devoted member of Danville United Church of Christ. She enjoyed being just at home, cooking, and being with her family. She also was a loyal Illini Fan. She had an exhilarating personality and always had a smile on her face. Gladys was very caring and loving person to everyone. She was much loved and will be greatly missed, but she left so many happy and wonderful memories behind.
