Gladys Helen Shaw Sullivan, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Pleasant Meadows Nursing Home in Chrisman, Illinois. Gladys was born on March 25, 1928 in Danville, Illinois to James Martin Lynch and Helen Genevive Olson Lynch. In 1948, Gladys married Chris Shaw in Westville, Illinois, he preceded her in death in 1997. In 2003 she married Ralph Sullivan. Gladys was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville and greatly enjoyed working the Coal Bucket Chili Supper and the Church Christmas Bazaar. Gladys had been employed by Illinois Bell and Goldblatt's, both in Danville. Gladys was a Red Vest volunteer for several years at Provena United Samaritans Hospital in Danville. Gladys was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed following the Cardinals. Gladys was a well known seamstress in the area. One of her treasured legacies was the countless Barbie doll wardrobes she created and sewed and gifted to many young girls who received hours of enjoyment. Gladys loved spending time with her family be it in Westville, Michigan or St. Louis. Gladys is survived by her son, Jeff (Chris) Shaw of Westville, grandchildren, John (Tina) Stahl of Lafayette, Indiana and Kaitlyn Shaw of Westville, and great grandson Joshua Stahl of Ridgefarm. Two sisters, Eleanor (Bob) Vredenburg of Danville and Helen (Talmer) Bates of Westville, and one brother, James (Beverly) Lynch of Peel, AK. One brother-in-law, Harry (Mary) Shaw and sister-in-law, Eileen Shaw, both of Westville and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Chris Shaw, daughter, Linda Emery, son-in-law Garry Emery, sisters Barbara (Pat) Parry and Marlene Smith, brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Rose Wooden and brother-in-law, Carl Shaw. Visitation will be held from 11 to noon Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Trinity United Church of Christ Westville, Illinois with services immediately following. Reverend David Roberts-Mosser officiating. Internment will take place at the Danville National Cemetery, 1900 E. Main St., Danville, Illinois. Sunset's Urbas Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Trinity United Church of Christ, 311 E. Moses Ave., Westville, Illinois 61883.
