Ginger L. Garner

Danville - It is with great sadness that the family of Ginger L. (Henline) Garner announce her passing after a brave battle with lung cancer, peacefully in her home at 11:15 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the age of 70. She was born on November 23, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of Dr. Herschel V. and Betty J.(Premeau) Henline. Ginger will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters; Dona (Gregg) Chiaffredo and Gretchen (Jim) Ricketts along with her five grandchildren, Lukas and Victoria Stern, Nicholas Smith, Noah Smith, and Gabrielle Ricketts, and her two great grandsons, Jaxon and Sawyer Stern. Her two furrbabies, Mac and Cam will dearly miss her as well as her wonderful neighbors and best friends, Jeanie & JD Cooke. Ginger was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Guy M. Henline. Ginger spent the majority of her adult life dedicated to educating children and ensuring the education of all children was at the highest level possible. She earned a bachelor's degree in bilingual education from Western Illinois University while raising two daughters on her own and working two part-time jobs. She then went on to earn a Master's degree from Eastern Illinois University. Prior to her retirement, she was the Deputy and Acting Director for the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 4:00 pm DST at the Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Father Bowan Schmitt will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm DST at the funeral home Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Ginger to the Danville Public Library 319 N Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61832.
