Gilbert 'Gil' Lewis Bergloff

Gilbert Lewis “Gil” Bergloff, Jr., age 71 of Westville, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 7:00 AM EST at Morgantown Healthcare in Morgantown, IN. He is survived by: his wife, Pat Bergloff of Westville; children, Brian Lewis Bergloff of Colorado Springs, CO, Cyntha Lynn (Ronald) Johnson of Montgomery, IL, and Danny Lee Bergloff; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Neil (Odette) Bergloff of Hershey, PA and Steven (Sara) Bergloff of Tamplin,VA; sisters, Edna (Ron) Farber of Newport, NY, Sherry (George) Keys of Hobart, NY, Jeannie (George) Gottung of Ft. Wayne, NY, and Martha (Roger) Treen of Ilion, NY; stepson, James (Sandy) Snyder of Danville; three step-grandchildren; sister-in-law Sandy Boyle of Danville; brother-in-law Joe Shaw of Oakwood; aunts, Fay (Farmer) Kattato of Frankfort, NY and Elda Farmer or Carthage, MO; uncle, George Farmer of Carthage, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gil was born October 8, 1943 to Gilbert Lewis and Ethel Lois (Farmer) Bergloff, Sr. in Ilion, NY. He married Patricia Shaw on May 19, 1984 in Georgetown. They enjoyed 30 years of marriage together. Gil worked at General Motors for 25 years as a millwright. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving during peacetime from November 10, 1960 until November 8, 1963. After retiring from General Motors, Gil managed the Westville American Legion Post #51 bowling alley and after that was the bar manager there. Gil enjoyed fishing, throwing horseshoes, and gardening. He was a member of the American Legion Post #51 in Westville. A Celebration of Gils life will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, IL. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Memorials in Gils name can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
