Giavanna 'Janie' Lorenza Bowen

Giavanna Janie Lorenza Vettorel Bowen, 92, of Westville, passed away at 10:22 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at her home. Janie was born on November 7, 1916 in Catlin, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Pellin) Vettorel. She married Fay O. Bowen on March 18, 1939 in Georgetown. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her two sons- Robert F. (Carolyn) Bowen and James W. (the late Ruth) Bowen both of Danville; one beloved granddaughter- Jamie Nicole (Matthew) Rogoz of Plainfield, Illinois; great-granddaughter- Marlee Joan Rogoz and great-grandson- Avery James Rogoz both of Plainfield, Illinois; one brother- Frank (Vera) Vettorel of Tucson, Arizona; one step-grandson; one step-granddaughter; three step-great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; Jamies mother- Debra Bowen of Naperville, Illinois; sisters-in-law- Victorene Stanis and Ada (John) Richardson and special friends- Wayne and Patty Bryant. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law- Ruth Bowen, brother- Don Vettorel, sisters- Nancy Mensavage, Emma Virostek, Linda Vettorel, Louise Godels and an infant sister and brother. Janie attended Georgetown schools and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville. Graveside Services for Janie will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Sandusky Cemetery in Westville. Per her wishes she will be cremated. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville.
