Cayuga, Ind. -- Gertrude A. Samuels, 98, formerly of Cayuga, Indiana and a resident of The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana, passed away at 7 p.m. EST Friday, March 12, 2010 at The Waters of Covington. She was born September 6, 1911 in Silver Island, Indiana (Fountain County), the daughter of the late Louis N. and Nora E. Randolph Samuels. Survivors include: two sisters, Berniece S. Foster of Cayuga, Indiana and Eleanor Fern McMasters of Danville, Illinois; two great nieces and four great nephews. She was preceded in death by her 2 nephews, Merrill B. Foster and Myron S. Foster. Gertrude worked as a clerk for several years at the former Szilagyi Grocery Store in Cayuga. She was a member of the Cayuga Presbyterian Church. Gertrude was a 1930 graduate of Cayuga High School. She enjoyed quilting. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Monday, March 15, 2010 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Dr. Andy Spencer; Burial: Silver Island Cemetery in rural Kingman, Indiana; Visitation: One hour prior to services on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the funeral home.
