Kingman, Ind. - Gerry D. Swaim, Sr., 58, of Kingman, passed away at 7:56 p.m. EDT Friday, September 6, 2013 in Veedersburg, Indiana. He was born October 25, 1954 in Danville, Illinois, the son of the late Rudolph Lee and Rachella M. Presley Swaim. He married Barbara G. Daugherty on November 30, 1973 in Montezuma, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Gerry(Lindy)Swaim, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; Harold Lee Swaim of Paris, Illinois and Michael(Jessica)Swaim of Newtown, Indiana; step mother, Myrtle Lilley of Hillsboro, Indiana; father in law, Harold Daugherty of Mecca, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Vickie Lynn(Ricky)Gunter of Indianapolis and Heidi Gibbs of Westville, Illinois; five brothers, Terry(Rose)Swaim of Tilton, Illinois; Gayland(Jan)Swaim of Anderson, Indiana; Mike(Laura)Swaim of Danville, Illinois; Donald(Renee)Swaim of Hillsboro, Indiana and Michael Christensen of Kingman, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Gerry was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers. Gerry was a retired supervisor and truck driver for Phelps Disposal. He enjoyed hunting for ginseng, going to casino's and watching sports, especially the Chicago Bears. Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT Monday, September 9, 2013 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Roger Mertens; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 11 a.m. EDT Monday, September 9, 2013 until time of services at the funeral home.
