Geraldine King

Danville- Geraldine King, 70, of Danville passed away at 3:35 AM on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on February 11, 1942 in Danville to Jay C. and Elsie L. Steinbaugh Davis. She married Hugh W. King on June 27, 1964 at the Southside Church of Christ. He survives. Also surviving are two children, Brian (Julie) King of West Olive, MI and Cindy (Scott) Burton of Danville; six siblings, Viola Sliva, Jean (Virginia) Davis, Bob (Mary) Davis, Dorothy (Harry "Ike" Eisenhauer) Wonderlin, Irene (W.O.) Cunningham, and Laura (Carroll) Sprouls; six grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, and Caleb King, and Tyler, Cody, and Megan Burton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three siblings, a brother, James (Flora) Davis, a sister, Emma (Lawrence "Moon") Mullins, and an infant sister, Joan Davis. Geraldine worked full time as a clerk and Deputy Treasurer at the Vermilion County Treasurer's office from 1978 until her retirement in 1998. She was also a devoted housewife and enjoyed crafts, shopping, and the Covered Bridge Festival. She and Hugh also enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN. Christmas was a special time of year for Geraldine, having always enjoyed giving to others. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends. A service to celebrate the life of Geraldine King will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Reverend Dr. Jimmy Hopper will officiate. Burial will follow at Sandusky Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 AM- 1PM prior to the service on Thursday, also at Sunset in Danville.
