Geraldine 'Gerry' Mae Lawrence

Geraldine "Gerry" Mae Lawrence, born April 28, 1935, in Danville, IL, to Wilbur and Mildred (Hines) Lawrence, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Danville, IL. Gerry enjoyed the Turtle Races, bowling, sports - was a big Illini fan, annual vacationing in Florida, loved socializing with friends, was involved with K of C and with the Oaklawn-Fairweight Neighborhood Watch. Her love and dedication to her church was the cornerstone of her life. She was fondly known by many as "Aunt Gerry." Gerry is survived by her dear nieces, Sue (Norm) Walla, Carol Stamper, and Gail (Nick) Alonzo, all of Danville; a cherished sister in law, Martha (the late Gene) Lawrence of Danville; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; two special friends, Nancy O'Kane of Danville and Joan Hill of Lakewood, Ca; along with many other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; a great-great niece infant and great-great nephew infant. A celebration of Gerry's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, 10 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015, with Reverend Terry Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Dear relatives and friends are invited to gather for the visitation from 4 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the funeral home.
