Geraldine "Gerry" Ann Cox

Geraldine “Gerry” Ann Cox of Morrison, IL formerly of Danville, IL passed away at 11:40 AM on June 1, 2025 at Resthave Home of Whiteside County in Morrison where she was dearly loved by all.

Gerry was born on November 20, 1929, a few minutes after her twin, Bernadine. She was the daughter of Carl and Helen (Christenson) Hurtig of Oak Park, IL. She married Harry Cox on April 11, 1969 in Champaign, IL and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2012.

Survivors include her son, John Lambright, Albuquerque, NM, Daughter-in-Law Edde Lambright (Gary Harrold) Apache Creek, NM, stepchildren, Terry (Carolyn) Cox, Cumming, GA, Gary (Jeanne) Cox, San Diego, CA, and Darla Ewing, Sterling, IL. Her Grandchildren, John Lambright, Jr., NM, Steven Lambright, Lake Forest Park, WA, Megan (Steven) Henry, Auburn, AL, Mackenzie (Joseph) Coan, Birmingham, AL, Addison Cox, Atlanta, GA, Anne Hunter Cox, Charlotte, NC, Terra (Michael) Penney, Scottsdale, AZ, Tyler (Tawnie) Ewing, Sterling, IL, Tanner (Cara) Ewing, Wyoming, IL.

Gerry is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry Cox, son, Joseph Lambright, Twin sister, Bernadine Bach Lewis, and grandson, Carl Lambright.

Gerry graduated from Proviso High School in Forest Park, IL and the University of Illinois with her Bachelor of Science in History with a minor in Social Work. While at the University of Illinois she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She enjoyed spending her free time playing Bridge, golfing and was a voracious reader. Gerry was such a talented golfer that she had hit three hole-in-ones. Gerry worked for Danville School District 118 for two years and then worked as a supervisor for the State Of Illinois with the Department of Human and Family Services for 16 years. Geraldine was a lifelong member of St. James United Methodist Church, was a member of the 3M Class and had been a Sunday School teacher there as well.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Reverend Dr Donald Jackson will officiate. Visitation will be held before the service on October 25, 2025 from 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home.
