Geraldine 'Gerrie' Winland

Covington, In. - Geraldine "Gerrie" Winland of Covington, Indiana passed away on, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Indiana. Gerrie was born on March 26, 1938, the daughter of John and Sarah Pettigrew. On November 26, 1961, she married the love of her life Robert Winland, he survives. Gerrie is survived by her sons; Steve Winland and Stuart (Michelle) Winland, son-in-law; Brian Carnaghi, brothers; Tommy (Evelyn) Pettigrew and Jimmy (Marilyn) Pettigrew, sisters; MaryAnn Pettigrew, Patricia Pettigrew, Dorothy (Bill) Shingle and Sally (Jack) Strahl, grandchildren; Amanda Winland, Sara (Brandon) Crawford and Brittney Winland, great-grandchildren; Chase Crawford, Chance Crawford, Azmyra Williams and Aubrey Williams. She is preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Pettigrew, sister, Elizabeth Shannon and daughter Stephanie (Winland) Carnaghi. Gerrie enjoyed sewing, boating in Florida, feeding the birds, watching Wheel of Fortune, winning money at the casino, playing euchre with her club, shopping on senior day at Carsons, but most of all spending time with her family and husband of 55 years, Bob. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gerrie's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. As per Gerrie's wishes the services will be held in private. Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion in Danville, will be handling the arrangements.
