Geraldine Balbach

Geraldine Marie Geri Balbach, 71, of Georgetown passed away at 8:00 a.m. Friday April 22, 2005 at her home. She was born on April 5, 1934 in Westville, IL the daughter of Vester and Rose Fava Merlie. She married Ben Balbach on September 23, 1961 in Danville, IL. He survives. Also surviving: her mother, Rose Merlie of Westville; a brother, Donald (Eleanor) Merlie of Westville and a sister, Dora Vanzo of Westville; a special niece, Dana (Michael) Clary of Danville and a special nephew, Brian (Kendra) Vanzo of Evansville, IN. She was preceded in death by her father. Geri graduated from St. Marys grade school in 1948 and Westville High School in 1952. She retired from Stetco Corp. of Chicago, where she was a secretary. She then moved to Georgetown where she has resided for seven years. Geri loved her home and enjoyed going to auctions. She liked to buy, sell, and collect antiques. She also enjoyed cooking and was a very good cook.
