Gerald Richardson

Danville Gerald L. Richardson, 77, of Danville passed away at 8:20 PM on July 31, 2021 at his home in Danville, IL.

Gerald was born on October 29, 1943 the son of Omer and Velva (Strader) Richardson in Danville, IL. He married Wilma Edwards on May 1, 1979 and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2015.

Survivors include his daughter, Brandy (Ray Jackson) Carter of Danville, IL, two grandchildren, Michael (Kymaji Johnson) Carter of Danville, IL and Michaela Carter of Danville, IL, two great grandchildren, Zakahyia Robinson of Danville, IL, and Alani Carter of Danville, IL, one sister Donna Jackson of Georgetown, IL, and special family member, Tebrysa Jackson.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wilma Richardson, one brother Otis Richardson and one sister, June Pearson.

Gerald served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Supply Administrator at the Illiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville until his retirement in December of 2013. Gerald enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren, as well as being outdoors fishing or camping, and working crossword puzzles.

A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements
