Gerald O. Delp

Hillsdale, Ind. -- Gerald O. Delp, 93, of Hillsdale, passed away at 6:15 a.m. EDT Friday, May 1, 2009 at the home of his daughter, Diana Edwards in West Terre Haute, Indiana. Gerald was born December 19, 1915 in Parke County, Indiana, the son of the late Chauncy and Marjorie M. Daughty Delp. He married Valeria N. Schefke on October 16, 1940 in Covington, Indiana. She preceded him in death on November 12, 1999. Survivors include: four daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Hillsdale, Indiana; Sue Hanna of Port Charlotte, Florida; Diana(Jim)Edwards of West Terre Haute, Indiana and Sandra(Daniel)Hites of Danville, Indiana; two sons, Leroy Delp of Hillsdale, Indiana and Elwood(Mary)Delp of Montezuma, Indiana; 21 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; one brother, Troy(Vivian)Delp of Mellot, Indiana. He was preceded in death by three sons, Gerald, Jr., Ricky and Larry Delp; 3 grandchildren; 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Gerald was a retired farmer. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors, going to auctions, gardening and mushrooming. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 7, 2009 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor David Thomas; Burial: Kingman Fraternal Cemetery in Kingman, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EDT Thursday, May 7, 2009 until time of services at the funeral home.
