Gerald Hinman

Gerald Edward Hinman, 88, of Covington, Indiana, passed away at 1:17pm, Sunday, November 29, 2020, at The Waters of Covington. He was born on June 10, 1932, in West Salem, Illinois, the son of Robert and Eva {Marshal} Hinman, both deceased. He was first wed to Donnetta Jean Saye on April 2, 1952. He was later married to Marian Hari in October of 1974; until her passing. He is survived by: his son, Bruce (Brenda) Hinman of Westville; his daughter, Melba (Scott) Marron of Danville; his step-son, Keven (Tina) Hari of Covington; his step-daughter, Pam Allison of Covington; his grandchildren, Brandy Williams & Jim York; his step-grandchildren, Allysa Brooks, Katie Claussen, Eli Hari, Jennifer Allison, Ben Allison, & Ted Allison; his great grandchildren, Logan Hinman, Mikey Williams, Brantley York, & Colten York; and his 10 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Hinman; his sister, Ida Mae Kerster; and his grandchild, Miranda Smith. Gerald worked for General Motors Tilton Foundry until his retirement after 38 years of service. He enjoyed working on old cars and attending car shows. He was known to love to dance and would drive to Wallace, IN, faithfully. He also enjoyed gardening and being outside, as well as watching Westerns on TV. He attended the First Church of Christ in Covington. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Geralds life will be held at 1:00pm (EST), Friday, December 4, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by all attendees. He will be laid to rest in Coals Creek Cemetery, Covington, IN. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Parkinsons Research.
