Gerald D. Kietzmann

Tilton - Gerald Kietzmann, 76, of Tilton, IL passed away in his home early in the morning on Thursday, July 6, 2023. He was born in Danville, IL, on June 10, 1947 to Orval and Louisa (Boggess) Kietzmann. He married Carol Cooper on October 20, 1986, and they spent 35 wonderful years together before her passing in 2021.

Gerald is survived by his children, Russell (Cindy) Kietzmann, Karen Kietzmann, and Crystal (Michael) Hammer; his grandchildren, Jacob (Jay Lee) Robbins, Brook (Jon) Rose, Cody Fueyo, Cory (Cynthia) Fueyo, Fawn Kietzmann, Azariah Fauver, Carissa (Michael Jacobson) Kirby; and his great-grandchildren, Oliver Fueyo, Aryela Rose, Chloey Rose, Presley Kirby, Tinley Jacobson. Gerald is also survived by his sister, Gloria (Bob) Frischkorn and his Brother Jim (Audrey) Griffith, nephews Robert (Polly) Puckett and Brad Puckett, niece Dawn (Darren) Richards; several great nieces and nephews; Steve and Sylvia McCrone, Helen Hardesty, Brian (Karen) Klett.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carol; his first wife, Gwendolyn Yvonne McCrone; and a nephew, Chaz McCrone.

Gerald enjoyed a wide variety of activities. He loved to hunt and fish, he bowled, he gambled, and he was even an avid fan of NASCAR. The things he enjoyed doing the most, however, were the things he did with his family, especially his wife Carol. Known collectively as "Bud and Budette," Carol and Gerald traveled to all 50 states, and would regularly go on road trips or cruises together so they could see the world. The pair also enjoyed swing dancing together, so long as no one got hurt.

Geralds family would also like to extend a very special thank you to his sister-in-law, caretaker, and best friend Helen Hardesty for all of her support over the years.

A service celebrating Geralds life will be held on Tuesday, July 11, at 10:00am at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville with burial at Spring Hill cemetery to follow. Visitation will be held the night before on Monday, July 10, from 5:00-7:00pm. Memorial donations in Geralds name may be made out to the charity of the donors choice.
