Gerald C. "Pete" Meeker

Georgetown, Ill. -- Gerald C. "Pete" Meeker, 96, of Georgetown and formerly of Eugene, Indiana, passed away at 5:30 p.m. CDT Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, Illinois. He was born December 5, 1913 in Eugene, Indiana, the son of the late Fred and Nellie Sterms Meeker. He married Lula m. Price on December 24, 1957 in Georgetown, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Sallie Williams of Georgetown, Illinois; one son, Gaylord Meeker of Danville, Illinois; four grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren. Pete retired from C&EI Railroad as a lineman. He was a 1931 graduate of Cayuga High School. Pete enjoyed fishing, hunting and listening to baseball games on the radio. Graveside services and burial: 3 p.m. EDT Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Miller Cemetery in Lodi, Indiana. There will be no visitation. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
