George Vredenburgh, 96, beloved husband, father, and grandparent, peacefully departed this life in his sleep on October 28,2025, at Fountain Springs Assisted Living Facility. Born on October 5, 1929, in Danville, Illinois, George lived a life filled with warmth and kindness, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication,
George proudly served in the United States Army serving in Japan during the Korean conflict where he demonstrated the values of commitment and service that resonated throughout his life. Following his military service, dad worked diligently at Harrison Steel, where he managed the south foundry for many years, prior to dads advancement to the position of Foundry Engineer where his skills and knowledge of molding processes improved casting quality and processes.
Contributing to his community dad was a 60 yr member of Kingman Lodge #314 serving as Master in 1973, dad kept active in the lodge most of those 60yrs. Dad also served the community as a member of the Kingman town council, as well as serving on the Fountain Trust Company advisory committee. Dads career was also enhanced by his innate skills as a handyman; he was always seen fixing something, embodying a spirit of perseverance and resourcefulness.
A man of many interests, George was renowned for his calm demeanor and love of people. He engaged in numerous hobbies, including playing golf and participating in a softball team at Harrison Steel. Dad cherished fishing trips with friends, creating lasting memories that he held dear.
George was not only admired for his professional accomplishments but also revered as an amazing father and husband. He served as a role model for his children and took immense pride in his family. He is survived by his children Rodney (Cathy) Vredenburgh, George (Tina) Vredenburgh, Lora (Max) Whittington, Mika (Connie) Vredenburgh, and Holly (Mike) Ramsey, along with 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Billie (Budnovich) Vredenburgh, his parents Eugene and Irene (Turner) Vredenburgh, his daughter-in-law Rita Vredenburgh and his brother Lowell Vredenburgh. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his legacy will continue to inspire and touch the hearts of those who knew him. The family would like to thank the caring and loving staff at Fountian Springs and Sothern Care Hospice.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on November 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by Masonic service at 7:00 PM, followed by Celebration of Life, all taking place at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center's Covington Chapel 420 3rd street Covington, Indiana.
