George T Miller

George T. Miller, 87, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:55pm, Tuesday, August 2, 2017, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born on July 30, 1930, the son of Joseph and Jesse {McMillan} Miller. He was united in marriage to Virgene L. Neuman on March 16, 1956, in Danville, IL. She preceded him in death. George was a proud Veteran of the US Navy serving in Korea. He worked as a welder and crane operator for ESCO for 35 years. George enjoyed going fishing with his family in Kentucky, playing Cribbage, and hunting for mushrooms & Ginseng. George was a great builder, building chairs, birdhouses, and cradles for his grandchildren. He was a devoted father and grandfather and his family will cherish the memories of his wonderful storytelling and the stories he kept alive from the past. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. George is survived by: his children, Ken (Debbie) Miller of Ridge Farm & Brenda (Roger) Coon of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Megan, Kristi, Joe, John, Mark, & George; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Tatum, Tristan, Shaylie, Shelby, Kendra, Karli, Trent, Turner, Aubree, Keirra, Grayson, Harvey, Tristan, Dakota, & Gracie; his siblings, Maxine Scott, Josephine Doan, Harley (Sandra) Miller, & Linda (Greg) Christenson; his brother-in-law, Richard Neuman; and his sister-in-law, Dolores Sprague. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brothers, Bill Miller, Jim Miller, & Paul Miller; his sister, Pat McCormick; and infant sister, Thelma. A celebration of George's life will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, with Patti Wise officiating. Visitation will be held 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, August 7, 2017, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Georgetown with Military Rites conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203.
