George Neuman

George D. Neuman, 64, of Danville, died at 4:30 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at his home. He was born February 2, 1942 in St. Joseph, IL the son of Virgil and Arvilla (Menges) Neuman. He married Jackie Grant on June 21, 1969 in Danville. She survives. George is also survived by one daughter: Nicole Neuman of Danville; two brothers: Richard Neuman of Danville and Joe (Sharon) Neuman of Belgium, IL; one sister: Delores Sprague of Tilton, IL; four brother in laws: George Miller of Georgetown, IL, John (Karen) Grant of Williamsport, IL, Paul (Chris) Grant of Danville, Marty (Tami) Grant of Danville; five sisters in law: Marilyn Neuman of Cayuga, IN, Cecel (Ron) Williams of Danville, Indiana, Claudia Poochie Delp-Grant of Danville, Kerry (John) Blankenbeckler of Danville, IL, Billie (Jeff) Snoddy of Covington, IN; one aunt: Fern Menges of Danville; and two special cousins: Mike (Pat) Menges of Danville and Pat Earnwald of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jerry and Robert Neuman, one sister: Virgene Miller and a special uncle, George Menges, that he was very close to. George graduated from Bismarck-Henning High School. He was very active in organizing his class reunions. He worked for ESCO for 20 years before working for Quaker Oats Company until his retirement in March of 2004. He spent a lot of his time in his garden growing vegetables to share with his family and friends. He loved fishing, farming, picking black berries, mushroom hunting, and looking for deer on his four-wheeler. George never met a stranger and was friends with everyone. He spent his mornings at the Bismarck Coffee Shop playing cards and visiting with friends. He was an avid Illini Fan.
