George Minneman

George Minneman, of Urbana, was born on May 12, 1947, in Goshen, NY and passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and William Minneman of Hartford, KY and his brother, James “Jim” Minneman of Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Minneman of Urbana, IL; his daughters, Stacy Pelmore of Urbana, IL and her children, Vontice, LaVontae, and Zayvon; Erin Minneman of Urbana, IL and her children, Trevon and Janasia; and his son, Eric Minneman (Shaina) of Farmer City, IL and their son, Levi.

George proudly served his country in the Air Force, a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years of service to the United States Post Office, where he was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to serving his community.

One of George’s greatest joys and proudest accomplishments in life was being a grandfather. He deeply loved his grandchildren and took immense pride in each of them, cherishing every moment spent together and creating memories they will hold close forever.

Though he is no longer with us, George’s love, strength, and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Cremation arrangements have been made at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Champaign Chapel 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL. 61820.
