George M. Milner, 86, of Danville, died at 5:15AM on Friday, November 15, 2024, at OSF Hospital in Danville, Illinois. Born on July 26, 1938, he was the son of Edgar William and Julia Nellie Story Milner in Blount Township, Illinois.
He graduated from Henning (IL) High School and then served in the U.S. Army for 3 years.
On June 1, 1968, he married Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Mominee at the Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Danville. He retired from Heatcraft after 44 years of service. He was a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served as a member of the Finance Ministry Team of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member and past president of the Golden K Kiwanis. He was also a member of the Holiday Hills Association. He was a Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Libby; two daughters, Ann (Kenneth) Ostrom of Baton Rouge, LA, and Julie (Brian) Weber of Peoria, IL; two grandchildren, Jacob Weber and Lauren Weber, both of Peoria; step-sisters, Elaine Tarter of Fort Branch, IN, and Mary Kay Cannon of Oakwood, IL; step-brothers, George Wayne (Vonnie) Dodson of Colleyville, TX, and Donald (Bonnie) Dodson of Northborough, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar William Milner and Julia Dodson; his step-father, Maurice Keith Dodson, two brothers, Robert (Bob) and Paul.
A Celebration of Life for George will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Franklin Street Danville, Illinois 61832. Burial with military honors will follow at Danville National Cemetery at 12PM. Visitation will be held from 6PM-8PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois, and again at 9:30AM until time of services at the church on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Danville, IL. Or a charity of the donor's choice.
