George M. Mclaughlin

George M. McLaughlin Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2021 at University Rehab Center in Urbana IL. George was born on October 24, 1936 in Urbana IL, a son of Melvin and Ruby (Blacker) Mclaughlin. He was preceded in death by, his parents, wife Darlene (Whitt) McLaughlin, brother Larry McLaughlin, sister Christine Amos, daughter Betty Stover, son-in-law Leslie/Bud Stover, grandson Josh Gullion, three brothers-in-law, Ed Whitt, Brad Bradshaw and Richard Stalter and two sisters-in-law; Mary Colon and Pauline McLaughlin. He is survived by daughters; Georgia Chase (Gary) St. Joseph IL, Doris Beland (Tom) Champaign IL, Darla Levitt Champaign IL, sons; Randy McLaughlin Urbana IL, J.R. McLaughlin Champaign IL, Mark McLaughlin Mattoon IL, George A. McLaughlin Ann Arbor MI, eleven grand-kids; Curt Chase, Lisa Whitcas, Glory Roche, Ginny Whitlock (Randy), LeeRoy Stover (Brandy), Jeanette Dunham (Rodney), Chrissy Jefferies (Robert), Jim McLaughlin (Shawn), Richard Stover, Derrick Levitt, Darrin Levitt, twenty eight great-grand-kids; nine great-great grand-kids, sisters; Doris Bradshaw Urbana IL, Dixie Stalter Champaign IL, Erva Rose (Lew) Urbana IL; brother, Tom McLaughlin (Peggy) Portage MI. and several nieces and nephews.

George was the owner/operator of McLaughlin Sanitary, servicing the Chambana area for many years. He enjoyed sports and was involved with local softball tournaments as well as coaching several men's softball teams. He enjoyed Gospel music and often attended concerts. He also truly enjoyed playing Santa at various local stores and nursing homes during the Christmas season.

A memorial visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 710 N. Neil Street in Champaign, Illinois on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 9-10am with a service to follow at 10am. George will be inurned at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, IL.

Memorials may be made in his name to Transitions Hospice in Champaign, IL.
