George H. Garretson

George H. Garretson 78, of Mahomet passed away at 2:40 P.M. Wednesday May 30, 2007 at the home of his son. He was born October 1, 1928 in Danville the son of George J. and Margaret J. Nolan Garretson. He married LaVerne Hanna on January 17, 1953 in Danville She preceded him August 13, 2005. Survivors include one son George Steve (Vicki) Garretson of St. Joseph, three daughters; Vanessa Dianne Garretson of Champaign, Vicky (Dave) Guist of Martinsville, In, Valerie ( Dan) Stover of Carbondale, , a sister KayAnn (Shug)Wagner of Danville, eight grandchildren; Eric and Ean Decker of Indianapolis, Clint Garretson of Sidney, Marcus Garretson of Champaign Elliott, Emerson and Ethan Guist of Martinsville, In, Tyler Garretson of Carbondale, six great-grandchildren; Jalynn Decker of Indianapolis, Alexis, Brooke and Paige Garretson of Sidney, Elijah and Emma Decker of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Raymond. George was a service representative for the National Cash Register Company for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy with the rank of 3rd class Petty Officer, stationed at Treasure Island in San Francisco, Ca. He was in the Arial Photography Division. He was a member of the American Legion post 1015; he loved to travel and spend time in Corpus Christy, TX, and also enjoyed playing poker with his friends. George liked to fish and go camping; he loved the ocean and was a Chicago Cubs fan. A Celebration of life service for George will be 10:00 A.M Saturday June 2, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, Il Officiating: Rev Katie Hopper Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 P.M. Friday at Sunset Funeral Home.
