George 'Fred' Binkley

Danville - George “Fred” Binkley Jr., 62, of Danville, passed away on January 20, 2014 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. He was born February 25, 1951 in Decatur, IL the son of George Sr. and Helen Wood Binkley. He married Sue Craft on May 03, 1986 in Danville. He is survived by his wife Sue Binkley; his mother, Helen Binkley; his sister, Ann (David) Bruckner; his daughters, Megan (Robert) Ketcherside, and Kathryn (Charles) Rouse; and his grandchild, Ava Maryn Ketcherside. He was preceded in death by his father and one unborn grandchild. Fred was an active member of the Danville Jaycees which is where he met his wife Sue. He was also an eagle scout; which is the highest level of The Boy Scouts. Fred earned his Bachelors degree in Marketing from SIU in 1974. Fred was the Sales Manager at Ks Merchandise for many years. After working at Ks he became an educator in School District 118. He enjoyed golfing and camping with his family; he would even set a tent up in the living room for his girls to play. Fred was also very proud of his two daughters; he would often brag about them. He was an honored grandfather to his granddaughter Ava, or as Fred called her “Ryn”. Above all else, Fred loved his family; he will be sorely missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. A celebration of Freds life will be held at 10am on Saturday January 25, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. A visitation will be held on Friday January 24, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
