George F. Hinkle

George Franklin Hinkle, 81, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Provena Medical Center in Danville, IL. Born January 18, 1929, to Herman and Clara (Hutchings) Hinkle in Marshall, IL, George was a much loved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. George graduated from Newton High School in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from February 1951 to November 1952. George married Sue Kathleen of Bismarck, November 20, 1954. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. George and Sue Lived in Rossville, IL (1956 to 1993) where they raised two daughters: Debbie and Donna. They also lived in Bismarck, IL from 1993 to 2007 and Danville, IL from 2007 to present. George retired in 1988 after working 35 years for General Motors in Tilton, IL. After retirement, he worked for the City of Rossville in the City Works Department. George was a member of the Rossville American Legion as well as a member of the Rossville Church of Christ in Rossville and then later the Second Church of Christ in Danville. George enjoyed working outside, mowing grass, and gardening. He loved his family and cherished every opportunity to spend time them. He loved attending church and serving as a deacon in the church. George is survived by his loving wife, Sue; daughters, Debbie (Ron) Riggs of Alvin, IL., Donna (Dale) DeNeal of Danville, IL.; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Clark of Georgetown, IL., Kathy (Robert) Knapp of Fredericksburg, VA., Dustin (Kari) DeNeal of Carbondale, IL., Diana DeNeal and Derek DeNeal of Danville, IL.; four great grandchildren, Tristan and Kylie Knapp, Owen and Ethan Clark; Sisters Lorine King of Rock Hill, SC., Rosie (Ben) Huddleston of Joliet, IL.; brothers Dean (Jo) Hinkle of North Charleston, SC., Nolan (Gladys) Hinkle of Indianapolis, IN., Donald of Catlin, IL., and Kenneth (Ruth) Hinkle of Collinsville, IL. George was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Leila Gibson and Ruth Newlin, and brother Rex Hinkle. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Burial and military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, January 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. The Reverend Dale DeNeal of Second Church of Christ will conduct the services. Memorials may be given to the George Hinkle Grandchildren College Fund, Second Church of Christ, or a charity of ones choice.
