George E. Reiff

Covington, Ind. -- George E. Reiff, 78, formerly of Covington, Indiana and a resident of Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville, Illinois for the past 5 years, passed away at 10:40 a.m. CDT Friday, March 19, 2010 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. He was born April 16, 1931 in Mound Township in Warren County, Indiana, the son of the late Benjamin O. and Iva M. Atkinson Reiff, Sr. Survivors include: one sister, Mary Ann Cardenas of Hillmar, California and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. George was a school bus driver for eight years in the Danville School District. He also worked for five years at Harrison Steel in Attica, Indiana and farmed. George was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army from June 25, 1950 thru July 27, 1953. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and mushrooming. Graveside services and burial: 10 a.m. (Illinois Time) Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois with graveside military rites conducted by the Danville V.F.W. Post #728; Officiating: Rev. Steve Vitaniemi. There will be no visitation. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
