George E. "Gorgeous George" Halls, Sr., 71, of Tilton passed away at 12:05 AM on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on December 29, 1945 in Danville to George W. and Bertha May (Thomas) Halls. He married Sharyan L. Trumbla on June 11, 1977 in Danville. She preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Dawn L. (Mike) Hall of Bement, IL and two sons, George E. (Sinah) Halls, Jr. of Danville and George W. "Billy" (Heather) Halls of Georgetown, KY; grandchildren, Tony (Lauren) Hall of Wentzville, MO, Ryan (Amanda) Hall of Bement, Shane Hall of Bement, Seth Halls of Oakwood, and Aidon, Mayssa, and Lochlan Halls of Georgetown, KY, and Ainsley Richmond of Georgetown, KY; sister-in-law, Doris Halls; nephew George L. (Erin) Halls of Tulsa, OK and niece Simone "Buffy" (Mike) Armstrong of Westville; great nieces and nephews Kelly, Dalton, Emily (Parker) Kline, Becca, Payton, and Noelle; his beloved dog Parker; and numerous other friends. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Fred Halls. George was a 1964 graduate of Danville High School, after which he served his country in the United States Army from November of 1965 - November 1967 as a cook. During that time, he repeatedly won the "best cook" award. After the service, George worked for the Water Company in Danville until opening Halls Janitorial Service. After retiring from his business, he went on to work for the Commercial-News until retiring a second time. George was the past Governor for the Danville Moose Lodge #1001. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved fishing and golfing at all the local courses and had even played golf on the Senior Tour. He was a member of the band "Georgie and the Poor Boys" and performed with his brother in "Halls Pantomime." A memorial service to celebrate the life of George E. Halls, Sr. will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the VA Protestant Chapel in Danville, with Moose Lodge rites to be held prior. Pastor Gene Hooper will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the services at 2. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville.
