George Cornwell

George Cornwell, 71, of Vermilion Grove passed away at 4:18 pm Wednesday, October 19th, 2005, at his home. He was born on October 22nd, 1933, in Georgetown, IL, the son of Fred and Cora Allen Cornwell. He married Alice Mills on August 23rd, 1952, in Vermilion Grove. She survives. Those who will miss him include: one son, Dan (Lois) Cornwell of Orange, TX; one daughter, Melody (Mark) Klink of Wausau, WI; two brothers, Deb (Marie) Cornwell of Westville and Frank (Carolyn) Cornwell of Georgetown; three sisters, Betty (Marvin) Bonebrake of Georgetown, Edna Stal of Georgetown, and Frannie Kiger of Williamsport, IN; five grandchildren, Ali (Brad) Brakhane of Carlinville, IL, Jacob (Brandi) Klink of Chenoa, IL, Megan and Sarah Cornwell both of Austin, TX, and Heidi Cornwell of Vermilion Grove; seven great grandchildren, Molly, Libby, and Mark Brakhane all of Carlinville, IL, Perry, Abrie, Edie, and Kenzie all of Chenoa, IL, and Tiara Cornwell of Decatur. George was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Mike Cornwell, one brother, Les Cornwell, two sisters, Eunice Hall and Ruth Gerchak. George was a member of the Vermilion Grove Friends Church, Illinois Audubon Society, and the Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation of which he was a past board member. George was an outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He loved metal detecting, wood carving, and bird watching. George and Alice enjoyed listening to music and dancing. They spent their winters in Texas and their summers in the upper peninsula of Michigan. He loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed. A celebration of Georges life will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, October 22nd, 2005, at Sunsets Houghton Leasure Funeral Home. Officiating will be Max Rees and Mark Wallace. He will be laid to rest in Vermilion Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday October 22nd, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the Illinois Audubon Society or the Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation.
