George Chiaramello, Jr.

George Albert Chiaramello Jr, 76, of Westville, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, IL. He was born on March 29, 1947 to George Chiaramello Sr. and Charlotte "Shy" {Shuman} Chiaramello, both deceased.

He will be missed by his children, Paula (Todd) Galbraith of Manteno, IL, Cindy (Joey) Dalbey of Hebron, KY, and Angie (Joshua Shields) Hamer of Westville, IL; the mother of his children, Ruth Chiaramello; his grandchildren, Joshua (Ashley) Galbraith, Jenna (Trey) Farley, Micah Dalbey, Wyatt Dalbey, Lulu Dalbey, and Dannika Hamer; and his close friends, Jim and Donna Delattre.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his companion, Charla Cha Quartier.

George graduated from Schlarman High School Class of 1965. Following high school, he was drafted into the US Army. He was in the 1st Air Calvary Division and was a radio operator during Vietnam. He retired from General Motors, Tilton Foundry, with over 25 years of service. George was a member of the American Legion Post #51 in Westville and part of the Auxiliary. He later worked at Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville. He also enjoyed collecting knives, wood carving, and was a member of the Kickapoo Woodcarvers. He continued to attend several Veterans Reunions throughout the years, regardless of the distance he needed to travel.

A celebration of Georges life will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois, 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883 with Pastor David Robberts-Mosser officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 11708 1670 East Road, Westville. Memorial donations may be given in his name to the Westville Legion Auxiliary, Post #51.
