George Bromley, age 93 of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 8:00 PM at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman. He was born July 5, 1922 in Georgetown the son of James and Lillian (Tanner) Bromley. On June 23, 1943 he married Mary M. Sanders at the Camp Carson Chapel in Colorado Springs. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2010. Surviving are his daughters, Nancy (Ronald) Lacey of Georgetown and Mary Ann (Ralph Wayne) Moore of Springfield; grandchildren, Kevin Lacey, Jodi (Chad) Steinbaugh, Melinda (Ryan) DuRocher, Melissa (John) Loop, and Wayne (Lori) Moore; great-grandchildren, Cole and Caden Moore, Laura and Julie Loop, Grace, Jacob, Ty, and Dylan DuRocher, Jicee Lacey, and Conor, Lacey, Cale, and Cameron Steinbaugh; sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Bromley and Barbara Bromley; and brother-in-law, Jack Sanders. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Curtis, James (Roberta), and Delbert Bromley, sister, Mary Elaine Roberson, and sister-in-law, Jane Chandler. George was a conductor and brake man for the railroad working for Conrail and New York Central rail lines. He worked for them all his life. George proudly served his country in the US Army from 1942 until 1945. He was a member of the Georgetown American Legion Dornblasers Post #203 and the Ridge Farm Friends Church. George enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears play and was an avid fan of both teams. He loved spending time outside and making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will be able to hold those memories dear to their hearts forever. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, especially his wonderful nurse, Mary Cox, for all the wonderful care they gave their loved one. A Celebration of George's Life will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Pastor James Blue will officiate. He will be cremated and laid to rest with his wife in Georgetown Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials in George's name can be made to Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman.
