George A.Oufek Sr

Alvin, IL George A. Sroufek, 58, of Alvin, passed away at 10:35 AM on Monday, August 28, 2023 at his home. He was born August 17, 1965 in Oak Park, IL to Leonard and Beverly (Beddow) Sroufek.

He is survived by three brothers, Michael (Suzie West) Sroufek, Ronald (Jean) Sroufek, and Leonard Sroufek, Jr., all of Alvin, IL; nieces and nephews, Michael (Susan) Sroufek, Jr., Brooke (Ernie) Thomas, Josh (Sammie) Sroufek, Dan (Cathy Jo) Sroufek, Doug (Elizabeth) Benjamin, Leonard Sroufek, Jr., Nicholas Sroufek and Amanda Sroufek; many great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Frank Harvey, Kevin, and Erica.

He was preceded in death by his parents, special aunt Helen Beddow, and his long-time partner, Angie Verdeyen.

George was a graduate of Rossville-Alvin High School and was the co-owner of Alvin Fence, Co. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time metal detecting, hunting for artifacts and arrowheads in the fields around his home, and feeding the birds, raccoons, and squirrels. George would also attend toy shows to find special items to add to his collection. In his downtime he also liked to read and spend time with his beloved dogs, Queenie, Abby, and Sugar.

A service to celebrate the life of George A. Sroufek will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial will follow at Manns Chapel Cemetery in Rossville. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service, also at Sunset in Danville.
