He was born on January 31, 1934, to James and Suzie {Hashman} White. He was famously born in a box car in Vermilion Heights in Danville, IL, becoming the fourth child of 11 siblings. George met the love of his life, Betty Lou Swider, and they were married May 4, 1958, in Westville, IL. They enjoyed 61 years together until her passing on September 16, 2019, and he had longed for the day he would get to see her again. He will be dearly missed by his children, Timothy (Marianne) White and Darla White; his grandchildren, Katy (Kaden) Walton, Bri (Jacob) White, and Carter White; his first great grandson due in May of 2022; his siblings, Charles White of Florida, Albert White, and Linda White. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Lou, and his siblings, Carl, Robert, Herschel, Billy, Henry, Mary, Nancy, and infant brother, Jerry. George served honorably and proudly in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and had many stories to share. He worked for Miss Fairhall, the Box Factory, General Motors, Bullock Garages, and County Market-North. He enjoyed bluegrass music and was a member of the Vermilion River Boys, with his brothers, Bob & Henry. He loved playing his banjo, as well as listening to banjos. He also sang with his wife and daughter at Calvary Baptist Church where they were longtime members. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, mushroom hunting, and eating nuts. His family were everything to him and was blessed to enjoy his final Christmas with them all. The family would like to thank Connie Ford for her wonderful care of him for the past several months.
