Gene Price

Danville-Gene Price, 83, of Danville passed away on March 2, 2018 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born on September 9, 1934 in Danville the son of Allen Ray and Edith (Jenkins) Price. He married Shirley O'Neil in 1957 and she survives. Gene will be deeply missed by his wife, children; Timothy (Charlene) Price of Danville, Kevin Price of Danville, Curtis (Tammy) Price of Owensville, IN, Troy Price of Danville, Mark (Vicki) Price of Ridge Farm and Shelby (Dirk Switzer) Newell of Bismarck, grandchildren; Trista (AJ) Biggs, Beth (Rick) Rosenbaum, Elaine (Jeff Bennett) Price, Stephanie (Aldon) Rudicel, Sammi Jo (Daniel Pickett) Price, Staci (Kyle) Murphy, Amber McCarty, Kayla Price, Trenton (Ashlyn) Price, Scott (Bobbie) Price, Trevor (Taylor Baker) Price, Mason Newell, Peyton Newell, Piper Switzer, many great grandchildren and a special friend, Luke Britton. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. Gene served in the Unites States Navy out of high school before returning home to start the first of 3 generations in the Electrician's Union IBEW Local #538 in Danville. He held a membership for 55 years in Local #538 where he also served as apprentice coordinator for several years. Gene loved to go fishing with his good friend, the late Jim Britton. He was a lifetime member of the Illini Bass Club, Kickapoo Carvers and Holy Family Catholic Church. Gene was a little league baseball coach, boy scout leader and even an avid square dancer with his loving wife Shirley. He loved his job and going to Wrigley Field to cheer on his Chicago Cubs. A Mass of Christian Burial for Gene will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville with Fr. Loftus officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Danville.
