Gayle H. Dixon

Dana, Ind. - Gayle H. Dixon, 85, of Dana, passed away at 5:05 a.m. EDT Friday, July 6, 2018 at Hospice IPU in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born September 15, 1932 in Vermillion County, Indiana the son of the late William A. and Edna B. (Woodard) Dixon.

Gayle married Irene V. Vandevender on May 25, 1956 in Newport, Indiana. She survives.

Other survivors include his children: Bill (Jill) Dixon of Cayuga, Indiana; Robert (Julie) Dixon of Dana, Indiana; Patty (Pat) Taylor of Lebanon, Tennessee; Pamela (Troy) Camp of Chandler, Indiana and Paula (Steve) Cramer of Cayuga, Indiana; seven grandchildren: Dusty, Bradley, Kellie, Garrett, Trevor, Bradon and Brody; one great granddaughter, Mila Knauer, and one sister, Lois Naillox of Wheeler, Indiana.

Gayle was preceded in death by his brother, Lyle Dixon.

Gayle retired in 1995 from P.S.I. after 23 years in the maintenance department. He also formerly worked at the Vermillion County Highway Department and Albright Veterinarian Clinic in Cayuga. He was a SP4 in the United States Army. Gayle attended Cayuga High School. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle and watching college basketball.

Funeral service: Monday, July 9, 2018 at 3 p.m. EDT at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Steve Vitaniemi; Burial: McKendree Cemetery, Georgetown, Illinois; Visitation: Monday, July 9, 2018 from 2 p.m. EDT until time of services at the funeral home.
