Gary Richard Whitmer

Champaign - Gary Richard Whitmer, 65, passed away on Thursday February 9, 2017 at Helia Healthcare of Champaign. He was born on October 29, 1951 in Joliet, IL to Richard Louis and Marie Rose (Elias) Whitmer. Gary is survived by his brothers Glen Louis (Gregg Perry) of Champaign, IL and Richard Elias (Marilyn Marker) Whitmer of Peachtree Corners, GA; nieces Charlotte Marie, Georgia Rose, and Savannah Kimberly. He is preceded in death by his parents. Private graveside committal will be held on Saturday February 18, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, IL. Father Michael Condos will officiate. Memorial visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday February 17, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gary's name to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Champaign, or Promise Healthcare Champaign.
