Gary Lynn Steffen

Gary Lynn Steffen, 60, of Oakwood passed away at 6:28 am on January 17, 2008 at Provena U.S.M.C. Logan Campus. Gary was born February 19, 1947 in Washington, IL. the son of Milton and Reba Garey Steffen. On August 16, 1970, he married Judith A. Crawford in Eureka, IL. Surviving are his wife, daughter Meredith Lynn (fianc(c)e David Culp) Steffen; his parents; sister Candace (Stephen) Erickson; nephew Matthew (Heather) Trask, nieces Natasha (Brad) Nordhop and Melissa (Craig) McDonald also 3 great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Joan Crawford and sister-in-law Vicki (Jim) Trask. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law. Gary graduated from Eureka High School in 1965 and Eureka College in 1970 where he was also a member of the Eureka College Athletic Hall of Fame. He taught world history and geography at Armstrong High School and later at Westville Jr. and Sr. high until his retirement in 2002. He had been resident of Oakwood for 31 years. Gary enjoyed golf, and golf club making, and working in the yard. A celebration of Garys life will be held at 10:30 am on Monday January 21, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. Pastor Allen Miller will officiate. Interment Stearns Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-6:00pm at the funeral home. Memorials to the Oakwood United Methodist Church, 106 E.
