Cayuga, Ind. - Gary Lee Rahm, 72, of Cayuga, passed away at 5:29 p.m. EDT Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
He was born December 5, 1947 in Spencer, Indiana the son of the late Alvia Lee and Naomi Irene (Sims) Rahm.
Gary married Delma 'Dee' McLain on April 19, 1991 in Cayuga, Indiana. She survives.
Other survivors include his children: Cindy (Russ) Leigh of Georgetown, Illinois; Amy (Brent) Axtell of Cayuga, Indiana; Carrie (Tim) Axtell of Perrysville, Indiana; Alvin 'Al' (Gina) Rahm of Eureka, Montana and Samantha 'Sam' (Jason Wilbur) McCoy of Waynetown, Indiana; 13 grandchildren: Logan, Derryn (Carol), Paxton, Deakin, Emily, Kaylee, Leanna (Amber), Brandon, Jarryd, Alyssa, Jordan, Carson and Jayden; 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Terry (Mark) Iunghuhn of Princeton, Indiana; Ruby Rahm of Lafayette, Indiana and Tammy (Dan) Smith of Attica, Indiana; two brothers: Ricky (Betty) Rahm of Covington, Indiana and Guy 'Bud' Rahm of Attica, Indiana; special friend: Greg Coffing of Covington, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was currently employed (50 years in October) at Coffing Brothers Orchard south of Covington. He was a 1967 graduate of Covington High School. Gary was a United States Army and Vietnam War veteran receiving the Purple Heart . Gary was a member and past commander of the Cayuga American Legion Post 263. He also participated with the Wouabashe Valley Frontiersmen's. Gary enjoyed making knives, collecting guns, building and sharpening chainsaw chains, his monthly breakfast get together with his brothers and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Due to the current health crisis a private family visitation and funeral will be held Friday, May 15, 2020 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana with Ashton Stewart officiating. Burial with honors will be held at Coal Creek Cemetery south of Covington. Contributions may be made to the Cayuga American Legion, 922 West Ferry Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928.
