Gary J. Langley, 75, of Covington, Indiana passed away Wednesday July 9 at home following a long battle with Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). Gary was born May 27, 1950 in Danville, Illinois to Leland “Pete” Langley and Barbara (Kilby) Langley. Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lynn Dunkerly Langley, daughter Sharon (Andrew) Toon, Terre Haute, Indiana, brother Lary (Marsha) Langley, Perrysville, Indiana, nieces Holly (Roger) Owen, Danville, IL., Kerri (Eric) Burke, Covington, IN., nephews Jeff (Kristi) Lamb, Cayuga, IN., and Lance Langley, Perrysville, IN., and several cousins, great-nieces and great- nephews as well as kitties Mikey and Lucky. He will join in heaven his parents, grandparents, an infant brother and sister, sisters-in-law Patrice Lamb and Susan Winchester, and several aunts and uncles.
Gary was a 1968 graduate of North Vermillion High School, Cayuga, Indiana and a 1970 graduate of Sams Technical Institute, Indianapolis, with a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. He was employed at Tee-Pak in Danville, IL. for over 30 years in the Quality Dept. and Quaker Oats for 7 years before retiring.
Gary was a basketball official for many years, often working with friend Russell Drollinger. He ran the clock for Covington High School football, basketball and girls basketball teams and drove the bus for all the sports teams for over 30 years. Gary was a fan of Indiana University Basketball, and a super fan of Bobby Knight, having met Coach Knight on several occasions.
He was a member of Cayuga Presbyterian Church and served as a trustee for many years. Gary was a 32nd degree Mason with Unity Lodge #344, Perrysville for 32 years and Fountain Lodge #60 for the last 2 years. He was a member of Zorah Shrine, Terre Haute, IN. Gary was a clown for the Shrine Circus, known as “Bunny the Clown”.
Gary enjoyed traveling for his job at Tee-Pak and with Lynn, visiting many foreign destinations, with Jamaica being a favorite. He also loved traveling with friends Susan, Terry, Deb and Marion.
Services will be Tuesday, July 15 at Sunset’s Covington Chapel, 420 3rd St., Covington, Indiana, with visitation from 10 am to 1 pm (EST.) Masonic Services and Celebration of Life service to follow with Pastor Emily Miller officiating. Burial will be at Thomas (Newport) Cemetery.
